Welcome to Camp Ajawah!

Since 1922, boys and girls from Minnesota and throughout the United States have come to experience two weeks of summer fun at Ajawah. The camp is located on shores of Linwood Lake, just east of Wyoming, Minnesota -- about 35 miles north of the Twin Cities.

What makes Ajawah different from other summer camping programs?  Camp Ajawah is first and foremost a place where kids can just be themselves and have fun. Set in a rustic environment, surrounded by the 40 acres of beautiful hardwood trees, campers spend two weeks in an outdoor camping experience, learning to swim, playing a variety of games and enjoying daily activities, sing songs and listen to stories around the council fire, go on an overnight canoe trip or rock climb at nearby Taylor's Falls, make bracelets in the Craft Shop.

There's always lots to do, but Ajawah is about many other things, too:  personal growth, making new friends with children from different backgrounds, learning to be independent, learning how to become a great camper or a terrific leader.

Camp Programs

Ajawah has two separate summer overnight camping programs for girls and boys who have completed the second thru ninth grades.  There are two 13 day sessions for the girls and two 13-day sessions for boys, both begin Sunday afternoon and conclude with a Friday evening farewell ceremony.  In addition, there is a 4 to 5 day Day Camp session for younger children, kindergarten through 4th grade, which is a day-camp program organized and run by the staff of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Minneapolis, MN The boy's sessions have an active scouting program.

Ajawah's program is an outdoor program.  Campers sleep each night in the open air, protected by large platform tents, pitched on raised wooden platforms. Camp buildings include a mess hall where meals are provided by a cook and kitchen staff, a lodge where indoor activities and evening programs are held, an arts and crafts building where campers can try their hand at a wide variety of camp crafts.  The gentle sloping sandy beach on Lake Linwood is managed by a Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor accompanied by a well-trained staff, which teaches swimming and basic boating/sailing courses.  A Nurse lives on-site during the Camp sessions in the Infirmary building to assist with any health issues.
