David L. Moore (1936 – 2025)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David L. Moore. Dave was a son, brother, uncle, friend, and honorary father and grandfather to thousands. He was a teacher, coach, author, mentor, adventurer, and advocate.

From gazing into the sky above Linwood Lake, pointing out the constellations for campers, to riding the streetcars in Minneapolis as a kid on his way to Scout meetings, Dave taught us all about friendship and connection with those around us and with nature.

He encouraged us to find and cultivate our authentic selves.

We thank you, Dave, for empowering us to take chances, push our limits, and question the world around us.

We know that you’re warm in your sleeping bag, Dave, surrounded by the acorns falling from overhead, hearing the taps of rain on a canvas tent, and listening as loons sing their echo into the night.

As you loved us, we love you.

More information about a celebration of life and further tribute will come when details are finalized. Please hold Dave’s family, friends, Ajawah alum, campers, students, and Scouts (Troop 100 and Troop 33) and their families in your warm embraces.
